The air that passes through this hose has a persistent plastic odor that won't go away, even after close to 100hrs of running air through it. It is made of vinyl that the raw hose manufacturer lists as "food safe" (Yes, I went down the rabbit hole of finding them because I could not believe this was safe to breathe, and still don't.) That it's being sold for such a high price adds insult to injury. When I first received it and hooked it up to the blower, it filled the whole room with this smell and my nose started running. I then moved the end of the hose outside and let it run every chance I got over several weeks, hoping it would dissipate. It did get better than it was at first but never went away. The whole point of a system like this is to protect you from hazardous fumes, not expose you to more. I can't rule with authority on the true hazard here but I would suggest staying away from this hose for breathing air if you can avoid it, out of an abundance of caution.I eventually found a compatible hose, meant for supplied air systems and made of a different type of plastic, from a place called Turbine Products and bought that. It looks a little less robust against abuse than the Allegro vinyl hose but works well and has no odor at all. If you go this route, you will need to get a pair of hose quick connect fittings as well. Both the Allegro vinyl and the Turbine Products hoses have 3/4" garden hose fittings on the ends. The Allegro hose has quick-connect fittings attached to those, which mate with the blower and hoods.I did not purchase this from Amazon but got this hose as part of an Allegro Breathing Air Blower kit (along with a hood and a few other accessories) that I purchased from a different authorized Allegro reseller.
